The 35th edition of Polish Film Festival in America (PFFA), the world’s most extensive showcase of Polish film and the largest annual Polish cultural event outside of Poland, will take place from Saturday, November 4 to Sunday, November 19, 2023, in prominent venues in the Chicagoland. A new thrilling movie from one of the best Polish filmmakers Jan Kidawa-Blonski THE SECRET OF LITTLE ROSE (ROZYCZKA 2) will open the 35th PFFA. The internationally-acclaimed artist is known for such great pictures as ”Little Rose”, ”Stars”, ”Destined for Blues”, ”Diary in a Marble”. Most of his films were showed in Chicago. „Little Rose” won PFFA Golden Teeth Award for the best movie in 2010 while „Stars” received the PFFA President’s Award in 2017. „Little Rose” also received a great number of prestigious awards worldwide |
Joanna Warczewska, daughter of an eminent writer, is at the peak of her life. Her thriving political career and family happiness are instantly destroyed by a terrorist attack in which her beloved husband is killed. When fate gives her a new chance in life, another blow hits her. Someone sends her photos and documents undermining her family ties and suggesting that her mother has collaborated with the Security Service in the past. Joanna decides to conduct a historical investigation on her own and unravel the mystery that casts a shadow on her family. What she discovers not only makes her look at her mother in a completely different way, but will also make her find her own identity. Joanna will be forced to face the blackmailer herself and make a choice that will change her life forever.

Script was written by Maciej Karpinski and Agatha Dominik, cinematography is a work of Lukasz Gutt, music composed by Bartosz Chajdecki. Produced by Monolith Films. Running time is 106 min. Director and stars of the Opening Movie are expected at the premiere screening. The Opening Night program includes a special presentation of a US trailer of the lost comedy „Bolek and Lolek” (1936) starring Adolf Dymsza in a double role, a harbinger of ”The Best Comedies of Michal Wyszynski,” the program co-organized by FINA along with a photo exhibition promoting the event. The Official VIP Opening Night Gala Screening will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 8:00 P.M. in AMC NewCity 14 (1500 North Clybourn Ave. by North Ave. in Lincoln Park, Chicago). Parking is discounted with validation. The Opening Night Gala Reception with stars of Polish film in attendance will proceed the screening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. at the Society for Arts (1112 N.
