The film includes materials from the archives of Emanuel Ringelblum, who in October, 1939, started collecting materials about the Nazi occupation of Poland. As he wrote, “As a leader of the Jewish Social Self-help Organization, I was in contact with the surrounding people every day. I heard about everything that happened to the Jews in Warsaw and the suburbs. Almost every day, delegations from the provinces came and told of their difficult experiences. I listened; in the evening I wrote it all down.”
