THE STORY OF ONE CRIME

A moving story of the Ulma family: Józef and Wiktoria and their seven children. The Ulmas sacrificed their lives trying to save two Jewish families. On March 24, 1944, the Germans committed an unspeakable crime, murdering the entire Ulma family. This is the starting point for the director to investigate the story. Its results are shocking… The director reached to previously unpublished materials, conducted a number of conversations, followed the post-war trail of those responsible for the murder. He discovers the truth that the perpetrators of this cruel crime were not punished, and the gendarme who sentenced the Ulma family and executed them, enjoyed respect and recognition in Germany for years.

MARIUSZ PILIS
Born in Zawiercie. Film director, screenwriter, journalist, and war correspondent. He studied Polish Philology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Actively involved in the activities of the Polish anticommunist opposition. Directed and produced several documentaries on the Caucasus, Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. He has worked with various TV networks such as TVP, TVN, Danish TV2, Dutch VPRO, and British BBC and Channel 4. Creator and first director of TVP Info. Director of TV Agency of Information in 2016. Editor in Chief of Polish Press Agency in 2017. Since 2020, Vice President of the Polish Journalist Association. Owner and president of Mewa Film and Ist Film Production, independent TV production companies.
