Poor locksmith journeyman Bolek gets into a fight in defense of his acquaintance. Fleeing from the police, he finds refuge in a stranger’s house, and joins the party inside. The guest take him for Lolek, the wealthy but goofy son of a wealthy businessman, because of the similarity of names. The young boy makes a good impression on the American investor who was about to start working with his father. Bolek in Lolek’s skin gets a job for himself and meets the American’s daughter, with whom he immediately falls in love.
MICHAL WASZYNSKI
Born as Mosze Waks in Kowel, Volhynia (now Ukraine) in 1904. One of the most important directors of the interwar period. He made forty films in the decade preceding World War II. In 1941, he joined Polish Armed Forces in the East commanded by General Władysław Anders. With Konrad Tom, they recorded the army’s journey to the Middle East in the documentary film “Children” (1943). A year later, he shot another documentary, “Monte Cassino”. Died in 1965 in Spain.
