Set over 28 years, “The Last Family” is a black comedy about Zdzisław Beksiński and his family. The story begins in 1977 when his son, Tomek, moves into an apartment in their housing complex. This intensifies relations between them. Zofia, Tomek’s mother, constantly worries about her overly sensitive and disturbed son; Zdzisław, the father, tries to devote himself to his art. After Tomek’s first suicide attempt, Zdzisław and Zofia must struggle to help their son and also to regain control over their lives. When Zdzisław signs a contract with Piotr Dmochowski, an art promoter living in France and Tomek begins work at Polish Radio, it seems the family’s troubles are behind them. However, that is not their fate as a series of strange events is yet to come.
