GREEN BORDER, Award-winning new film by Agnieszka Holland will be the final screening of the 35th Anniversary Polish Film Festival in America!

Saturday, November 4 – Sunday, November 19, 2023

The 35th edition of Polish Film Festival in America (PFFA), the world’s most extensive showcase of Polish film and the largest annual Polish cultural event outside of Poland, will take place from Saturday, November 4 to Sunday, November 19, 2023 in three prominent venues in the Chicagoland.

GREEN BORDER (Zielona granica), a new, poignant  and arousing huge emotions film by the three-time Oscar Nominee Agnieszka Holland will be presented at the special screening as the final show of the 35. PFFA on Sunday, November 19th at 5:30 PM. in AMC NewCity (1500 North Clybourn Ave. by North Ave. in Lincoln Park, Chicago; parking is discounted with validation). The movie has recently debuted at the Venice Film Festival where it was awarded a Special Jury Prize. Outrageous hate campaign started by the Polish government against the eminent director has brought the opposite effect contributing to the film’s record-breaking popularity and support.

In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the safe heaven of  the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
