“Our Little Poland” is a coming-of-age story that follows one year in the life of a group of Japanese students who enroll in the Polish Language and Culture Studies program at the University of Tokyo. One of the compulsory tasks for second-year students is to stage a play in Polish. In his documentary Matej Bobrik tells the story of their struggles, not only with the Polish language, but also of how their plans clash with reality.
MATEJ BOBRIK
Born in 1982 in Prague. Director and writer. Graduated in Film Directing from the National Film School in Łódź and the Wajda School. His films include “The Visit” (2013), “Where the Sun Doesn’t Rush” (2009) and “Light in August” (2014) were shown in international film festivals such as IDFA, DOK Leipzig, Visions du Réel, and others. He currently lives in Warsaw.
