Roman Cudakowski, for Cudak’s friends, plays in a band at weddings and city events. During the occupation, the musician does not do well. A chance to earn money is entering the premises for Germans. However, they cannot imagine an orchestra without a violinist. Then Cudak takes the talented Szymon Akerman out of the ghetto for concerts, with whom he did not live in harmony before the war. In the new reality, both need each other: Cudak can earn money playing with Akerman, who in turn gains a chance to survive. One day, Roman decides to permanently take a violinist and his family from the ghetto to hide them at the risk of his life in his home.
