Footage and articles by American correspondent Julien Bryan from the siege of Warsaw in September 1939 showed the world that Hitler’s war was aimed at terrorizing civilians. It became clear to U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt that without American help, England and the Soviet Union would lose this war. The United States was dominated by the pro-German and pacifist lobbies. It was Julien Bryan’s films that convinced the public to change their opinion about this war.
