Madalena is a young woman who dreams of becoming a professional DJ and moving abroad, while at the same time trying to raise her 5-year-old daughter. When she meets the famous DJ Julia, her dreams have a chance of coming true. Julia takes her under her wing and invites her to a world-famous DJ party in Berlin. However, old traumas from Magdalena’s past have returned to haunt her and now she has to choose what is most important – her daughter or her career?

FILIP GIELDON
Born in 1983 in Stockholm. Film director. After studying English literature and language and political science in Stockholm, he moved to London where he focused on political science and film theory, also learning poetry and screenwriting. Returning to Sweden, he spent two years at the Stockholm Film School while simultaneously studying political journalism at the Stockholm University. He finally decided to move back to his parents’ home country after being accepted to the Polish National Film School in Łódź (graduated in 2015). “Magdalena” is the director’s full-length feature debut.
