The illegitimate son of the daughter of farmers from Krosno area was later called “Polish Edison” or “Leonardo da Vinci from Galicia”. He was the first person to convert an optical image into small fragments comparable to today’s pixels. This allowed it to be copied perfectly on another medium. He made his first prints on fabric. Szczepanik was also the first person to send a primitive image over a distance using a telephone line. He also patented a video recording and playback system, which is based on 3 primary colors: red, green and blue (RGB). He invented a prototype of television. In collaboration with two other inventors, he came up with a silk fabric that was able to stop bullets. In 1902 he created the first bulletproof vest made entirely of fabric. He was a great inventor, with several hundred patents and over 50 discoveries to his name, many of which are still applied today, especially in the motion picture industry, as well as in photography and television.
