
The Polish mathematician Stefan Banach is generally considered one of the most important and influential 20th-century mathematicians. He was the founder of modern functional analysis and an original member of the Lvov School of Mathematics. In this film, well-known Swedish mathematician Per Enflo, as explains the significance of Banach’s ideas and their application in modern life.
WIESŁAW SANIEWSKI
Born in Wroclaw in 1948. Writer and director Wiesław Saniewski is also a film critic, reporter, columnist, lover of horses, and by education – a mathematician. He is a graduate of the Wroclaw University (department of Mathematics) and The Department of Screenwriting at the Film School in Łódź. He also studied art history and journalism. First, he worked as a film critic. Saniewski wrote several books related to cinematography, like “First Step to Hell” (Pierwszy stopień do piekła), “Innocence Lost in the Cinema” (Niewinność utracona w kinie), and “Reading the Future from Cinema” (Wróżenie z kina). His cinematic works focus on challenging and weighty social issues. He has been a lecturer in many film schools, both in Poland and internationally. Member of the Polish Film Academy.
