Tomasz Komenda was 23 years old when his regular life was brutally interrupted. Overnight, he was arrested, thrown into prison, and charged with murder. Further expert reports worked to his disadvantage, all the evidence pointed to him. For nearly two decades of imprisonment, he was beaten, threatened, humiliated and could count on no one but himself. Finally, after 18 years in jail, several prosecutors and a policeman came into his life and decided to expose the truth behind the puzzling case of the detained.
Director, cinematographer and screenwriter. Born in 1978 in Warsaw. Graduated in the Cinematography Department of Łódź Film School in 2001. He mastered his eyes under Edward Kłosiński and Witold Sobociński mastership. Since 2004, he has been working independently as a cinematographer in the production of feature films, television and advertising. He worked on the set of films with Juliusz Machulski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jerzy Stuhr or Krystyna Janda. In 2007, he made his directorial debut with the documentary “The Sun and the Shadow”, which was awarded at many festivals. In 2014, he made the mockumentary “Postcards from the Republic of Absurd”. In 2018, he directed the famous crime drama series “Rojst”, written together with Kasper Bajon. Film “25 Years of Innocence” is his directing feature debut, was very well received both by critics and the audience.
