In 1981 a martial law is declared in Poland. Tree top Polish artist: a writer and poet Stanislaw Barańczak, a painter Jan Sawka and jazz musician Adam Makowicz, found themselves in the USA with no possibility to return. All they have is the “emigrant’s suitcase”, a metaphor for Solidarity movement….
EUGENE STARKY
Graduate Cum Laude City University of New York – film Production. There he produced his first documentary film “Emigrant’s Suitcase”, a film about the solidarity era emigrants to the US. Across ten years span, 1987 – 1997 one of the foremost organizers cultural events in the United States and Canada. In 1998 he returned to filmmaking. Since then he has produced over twenty documentary films. In addition he writes screenplays, directing and producing films.
